Gigs names Rafael Plantier as new head of financial services
Telecom-as-a-service platform Gigs has appointed Rafael Plantier as its new head of financial services.
Plantier joins from Nubank where he led the corporate strategy and new ventures division.
At Gigs, Plantier will forge new customer partnerships in the financial sector and promote Gigs’ offering for banks and fintechs.
Gigs allows banks and other firms to offer phone and data plans, such as branded phone plans alongside credit or debit cards and employee management platforms.
Gigs co-founder Hermann Frank says Plantier’s “wealth of experience and deep domain knowledge will help us to cater to the needs of the fintech industry even more effectively”.
On his new role, Plantier says: “After 16 years in fintech and helping Stripe, Tink, and Nubank scale globally”, he will support Gigs in enabling firms to launch their own branded, programmable mobile service – an “immense opportunity”.
At Stripe, Plantier headed up the firm’s financial partnerships across Europe, before leading Stripe’s first Latin America team. He then became head of banking for Europe, Middle East and Africa, leading the transition to a “first-rate” banking infrastructure.
At Tink, Plantier was general manager for the UK and Ireland, leading the go-to-market and product strategy.
