Barclays names Kirsty Everett as chief compliance officer
British banking giant Barclays has appointed Kirsty Everett as its new chief compliance officer (CCO) and a member of the group executive committee, subject to regulatory approval.
Joining on 1 July, Everett brings more than 25 years of work experience in financial services to the new role. She succeeds Matt Fitzwater, who has been working as the chief compliance officer on an interim basis. After the transition period, Fitzwater will return to Barclays legal division as group centre general counsel.
Everett joins Barclays from HSBC, where she worked for more than four years in senior capacities, most recently as its group head of compliance. Prior to that, she served at UBS for seven years across a range of roles, leaving the firm as the designated chief compliance officer.
In December, the British banking giant underwent a number of changes to its group executive committee, as its then-COO stepped down.
