Shieldpay names Andrew Hawkins as CEO for UK & Europe
UK-based B2B payments firm Shieldpay has appointed Andrew Hawkins as its new chief executive officer (CEO) for UK and Europe.
He will take over the role from Shieldpay founder Peter Janes, who will move to the role of group CEO to helm the company through its next stage of growth and expansion.
Hawkins joined Shieldpay in August 2022 as chief product and technology officer and boasts more than 25 years of experience in tech. He previously worked as chief technology officer (CTO) at UK challenger Zopa for almost two years and has also held senior leadership roles at HSBC and Microsoft.
In his new role, Hawkins has been tasked with leading Shieldpay’s expansion in the UK as well as in new markets in Europe as the company looks to accelerate its growth trajectory.
Shieldpay says Hawkins’ “depth of expertise” from his time in leadership roles at both start-ups and global companies makes him “well-equipped” to lead its UK and European operations.
Founded in 2017 and based in London, Shieldpay provides a cloud-based digital escrow and disbursement solution that allows for “faster and more secure” payments. It is authorised and regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a payment institution.
