Efma names new chief exec as Desmarès steps down
Trade association Efma has appointed Vincent Bastid as its new chief executive, replacing Patrick Desmarès, who is retiring after 12 years in the post.
Bastid joined the organisation earlier this year from BNP Paribas, where he was head of benchmark and prospective for retail banking.
Vincent also spent more than 20 years at American high tech companies: ten years at Microsoft, leading marketing in education, finance, retail and services industries in France; three years at Apple Europe; and ten years at Texas Instruments, where he was in charge of the worldwide strategy for consumer products.
Writing on the Efma website, Bastid says that the threat from fintech start-ups is the “biggest threat that banks have faced in a long time” and says he plans to expand Efma’s output of studies and best practice guides to provide the support that banks will need “to support their digital transformation”.
