Unisys revamps New Zealand’s Co-operative Bank IT infrastructure
Unisys Corporation’s New Zealand subsidiary has revamped the Co-operative Bank’s IT infrastructure using Unisys ClearPath Forward systems.
Unisys says ClearPath Forward provides “enhanced security” for client and business information, as well as scalability to support the addition of new services.
In addition, it says ClearPath ePortal, an automated application modernisation solution, will support the bank’s service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment in delivering in-branch, mobile and online banking solutions.
Annette Natta, general manager of information services at the Co-operative Bank, says: “Unisys continues to provide flexibility and innovation in line with our business strategy – that’s why they have remained our technology partner since 1967.”
The bank replaced the Unisys ClearPath Libra 690 and ES7000 servers with ClearPath Forward 4390 “fabrics” to deliver an infrastructure running MCP, Windows and VMware.
As a result, Unisys says the bank has experienced “increased throughput to feed mobile and online banking, significantly reduced batch times and data transfer speeds between different operating systems to near 50 Gbps”.
In terms of core banking systems, the Co-operative Bank has been using New Zealand-based New Technology Business Solutions’ NTBS Banking since 2008.
NTBS has been around since 1995 and also offers mortgage management and unit registry – all using its “off the core” NTBS CRM. To date, NTBS has been installed in seven locations in three different countries (New Zealand, Australia and the UK).
On/off
This year, Unisys has been active with one deal but could be inactive in another.
It teamed with Sandstone Technology and Payment Card Technologies to bring to market a new digital banking solution. The solution, called USP, will consist of the “best of breed” products from each vendor, all “seamlessly” integrated. USP is aimed at new market entrants and established players.
In Wales, Cardiff-based Principality Building Society is a step closer to selecting a new core processing system, Banking Technology understands. Principality’s current provider is Unisys Financial Services System (UFSS). It is understood the building society has considered an upgrade of UFSS but decided against it.
