PFS Bringing Prepaid MasterCard to Slovenia (July 23, 2013)
July 23, 2013
A new prepaid MasterCard is coming to Slovenia, now that Prepaid Financial Services (PFS) has unveiled what it calls the nation’s first domestically issued prepaid card bearing the MasterCard brand. The SmartPayCard Prepaid MasterCard is available in two versions: SmartPayCard Simple, a non-reloadable virtual prepaid card, which can be loaded up to €250 (US$329) and comes pre-activated with no monthly fees for the first 12 months; and SmartPayCard Premium, which is reloadable and is valid for up to 36 months. The Premium edition of the card is available as a virtual or physical card, with ATM withdrawals available on the physical card. Both Simple and Premium SmartPayCards are available for purchase at retail outlets in Slovenia, online and via mobile phone using Moneta, the payment solution service of mobile provider Telekom Slovenije.
PFS earlier this month announced Pocket to Pocket, a new mobile app for its prepaid MasterCard customers enabling users to store and manage prepaid cards through a smartphone-based digital wallet. PFS, which was named a Breakout Company of the Year at the 2013 Paybefore Awards Europe, has been expanding its footprint considerably since it received an e-money license in the U.K. last year. In February 2013, PFS inked a deal with Deutsche Card Services, a Frankfurt-based acquirer and subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, to develop and deliver prepaid card solutions across Europe for corporate clients.
